The book comes with a platform-independent CD-ROM that contains a fully linked and searchable electronic version of the text that was designed to allow the user to have the book and solutions manual on any laptop or workstation to facilitate portability and ease of use in both classroom and study environments.

A click of the mouse allows the reader to jump to a referenced equation, theorem, definition, proof, page, or solution, and then jump back to the sentence containing the reference. In addition, the book and solutions manual can be searched for any combination of words or phrases.

The CD also contains material that extends historical remarks in the book and brings them to life with a large selection of portraits, pictures, historical articles, references, attractive graphics, and additional anecdotes.
